Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Her family was in Barcelona and has been described as an "atypical pop star" due to her various musical styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was 13 years old. She was a musicologist at Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Throughout her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top singles in her native country, the most for a local artist. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year nominations) Four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been conferred to Rosalia. She also received two Premio Ruido Awards. In the year 2019 Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the style of popular music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and she became the first Spanish-singing act ever to be recognized as the Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born into a family without artistic heritage and is the youngest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family-owned business that specializes in metalworking. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in 2019. [23] Her older sister Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative head. Rosalia was interested in performing arts from her early years. She discovered the discography of Camaron De la Isla. Her musical education began at Taller de Musics. She completed a 6-year program at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
