Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in America. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. He moved to Tampa following college. He was a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team for the year 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
